I recently had the opportunity to photograph my brother, Chef Justin Burdett, Chopped Champion, Former Chef De Cuisine at Miller Union in Atlanta, and now Executive Chef at Ruka’s Table in Highland’s, North Carolina. Justin has worked in the restaurant business for 15 years starting out at Mellow Mushroom and working his way up from line cook, to Sous Chef, to now Executive Chef in various high end restaurants with many notable Chefs. He has many years of blood, sweat and tears, and we couldn’t be more proud of his continued hard work, strong work ethic, passion for locally grown foods, and passion to succeed. He has now settled in a beautiful city up in the mountains of North Carolina with his family. He is the Executive Chef at Ruka’s Table, which is a lovely restaurant full of warmth, charm and delicious foods prepared beautifully. When he called to ask me if I would photograph his “team”, the owner and the restaurant, I was beyond delighted. I love food equally as much as he does, and have always enjoyed cooking and the art of creating flavors that melt in your mouth. (mine is more of the dessert flavor) It is such an art form in itself, and I truly appreciate what goes into this art as much as my own. SO, needless to say…the opportunity to join our art forms for a fabulous photo shoot had me giddy with excitement, bubbling with nerves, and overjoyed to be the one he chose to do the shoot.
