Sweet Deliciousness { Atlanta Food Photographer}

Who doesn’t love food?  Everything about food…the textures, the colors, the tastes, the smells OH, the smells, and most of all the fellowship it brings!  Food ignites every one of our senses!

I love food for all that it is!  The older I get I appreciate food more, homegrown, fresh food.  I love to cook, bake and eat!!!

As some of you may know, my brother is a Chef, once at Miller Union in Atlanta,  and now an Executive Chef at Ruka’s Table in Highland’s NC. , and I LOVE to bake.  My second dream job is to own a bakery!  ( FAR off dream):)  We come from a long line of baking, cooking Grandma’s.  Our influence in food was mostly southern cuisine, but over time our pallet has refined and we have grown to love all types of food.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph some food for a friend and the company she works for, for their new meus, and table tents.  Up until that point I had never photographed food for another, jsut my own and sometimes Justin’s (the Brother), so this was exciting to me.  I was a little nervous, but it turned out great.  I had so much fun!  Food is an entity in itself, and [so different from portraits but equally as stimulating, fun, and rewarding.  No matter what type of photography I take…

 a beautiful end result+a happy client= a delighted me!

Cheers!

XOXO  Steph

Let Freedom Ring {Tasty Tuesday}

Happy 4th of July!

The 4th of July is filled with many memories and special meaning to me and my family!

The 4th of July is my Nanny’s bday…throughout my childhood and on into my adulthood, we have celebrated this beautiful woman’s legacy, life and love.  I have memories of driving with my Parents to my Aunt’s house MANY years ago, swimming, grilling and enjoying each other’s company…rain or shine.  We have since moved this celebration to my parents house, the lakehouse, my house and now onto my Aunt and Uncle’s house, where we hang out in their Antique dripped home, comfortable welcome, and true southern hospitality!  This day is so iconic in our family for this reason and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate it, than my sweet Nanny’s day of birth!

Three of my favorite girls…

The 4th of July is special to my husband and I because 18 years ago we started dating and he asked me to marry him 9 years ago on this day!  He is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me, and I am grateful for him each and every day!

The Proposal

Husband and Wife

Now here we are 8 years married, two beautiful kids and an incredibly blessed life!

I wanted to share some really cute and easy recipes that you can share with you family and loved ones on our Country’s Birthday!

 Rice Krispie Sparklers
Serves: 15-25, depending on the size of your cutter
Simple ingredients come together for a fun, kid-friendly treat.
Ingredients

3 tablespoons of butter

1 10-ounce bag of mini-marshmallows

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)

6 cups of puffed rice (“Rice Krispies”) cereal

Strawberries (one per sparkler)

Blueberries (3-4 per sparkler)

Star shaped cookie cutter

Food skewers or lollipop sticks

Ribbon (optional)

Instructions

In a heavy duty saucepan (I use a large stockpot to give myself plenty of room for stirring in the cereal), melt the butter over low heat.

When completely melted, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until melted.

Stir in the vanilla.

Remove from heat and add in the cereal, stirring until completely coated and mixed in.

Pour coated cereal onto wax paper or buttered foil and spread out to the thickness of your cookie cutter. As you spread it out, keep the mixture compact — don’t allow any “holes” to form as the cereal moves under the pressure of your spatula (or wax paper if using that to shape the cereal mixture).

Once completely flat and thin enough for your cookie cutter to go through, allow the cereal mixture to cool and firm up. (Note: if you live in a high-humidity area like I do, this may take as much as 30 minutes)

Once cooled, press your cookie cutter into the hardened mixture, remove the cut out treat from the cutter and set aside. Repeat.

Starting with the strawberries, skewer the washed and trimmed fruit onto the wooden food skewers or lollipop sticks.

Carefully add one Rice Krispies treat on to the top of each skewer.

You can tie a ribbon to the stick/skewer, just below the strawberry for more festive color (and it helps support the heavy strawberry).

Serve and enjoy!

Notes

If you want a “stars and stripes” motif, cut half of the Rice Krispies treats into bars.

The vanilla is completely optional but I love the added depth it gives to this classic childhood treat.

POP ROCK RIMMED COCKTAILS

1. Simply dampen the edges of your glass with lemon juice. If you have trouble with the pop rocks clumping or sticking, you can try dipping them in a thin layer of caramel (but only use a small amount). 2. Then dip the rims into a plate filled with the pop rocks of choice. We love the Tropical Blue color for a patriotic blue color that is perfect when paired with a cranberry cocktail for the 4th of July!

You can also simply drop the POP ROCKS into your cocktail for a festive FIZZLE!

I hope you have had a FAB week!  It is great here…but HOT!  100 Degrees is too much for me in June.  I know, I know, it could be worse…but my goodness!

So, I was *so rudely* reminded that Christmas is only 6 months away!!  Shut Your Mouth was my thoughts!:)  Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas time and all the special meanings, gatherings and blessings it brings, BUT June is not the time to remind me of how close it is!

I thought I would share some gift ideas with you in lieu of that reminder…because you can never start too early.  And since lots of my FAB clients want family photos for gifts, cards, and displays for their home, I wanted to share some unique ways to use those photos that you pay good money for, so everyone can see how lovely your family is!

Eatin Right {Tasty Tuesday}

Morning!  I have to first apologize for not being consistant this Summer with my blog posts.  I promise I will get better.:)  This Summer has proved to be quite busy for us, and last week we had the awesome opportunity to play at VBS…me and my two little monkeys.  What a fun week it was to worship our God! :)

Now I am back, and ready to share some healty, tasty recipes.  We are trying to eat cleaner, and healthier around our household, so I wanted to share some good ideas with you today!

Most of these are from my Pinterest board…Do you LOVE Pinterest as much as I do??  Follow along with us!

Roasted Veggie and Black Bean Baked Burritos

 Recipe from Aggie’s Kitchen

2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed (small)

 1 red pepper, cubed (small)

 1 red onion cubed (small)

2 jalapenos, diced (if you want less heat sub another red pepper)

1tsp cumin 1tsp chili powder salt and pepper 2 tsp olive oil

can black beans, rinsed handful chopped cilantro squeeze lime shredded cheddar

Whole Wheat Tortillas or Wraps  (burrito size – I used Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Tortillas) nonstick olive oil spray

In a bowl, toss veggies in olive oil and season with spices.  Place in large baking dish and roast in 425 degree oven for 20 minutes, tossing around halfway in between.

Let cool.  Add to a bowl of rinsed black beans.  Add cilantro and squirt of lime juice.  Combine gently.  At this point, mixture can be stored for later use.  Warm wraps in microwave according to directions on package.  Add two heaping tablespoons of vegetable and bean mixture to center of wrap.  Top with shredded cheese.  Fold over, fold in sides and continue to roll.  Place on baking dish, seam side down and spray with nonstick spray or olive oil spray.  Bake in 375 degree oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.  Baking this way will make tortilla wrap crisp.  For a softer burrito, spray burrito with nonstick spray, then wrap in aluminum foil and bake for same amount of time.

Makes about 6 burritos.

Tip:  Premake your burritos and wrap in aluminum foil.  Keep in refrigerator for 3-4 days for a quick lunch or dinner!
